EL PASO -- Socorro High School football head coach and athletic coordinator Mike Ferrell has accepted the same
positions at Cedar Creek High School in Bastrop, Texas.

Ferrell, who will leave Socorro after three seasons, confirmed that he was offered the positions on Feb. 23rd.

"This opportunity came, and I followed it a little bit and pursued the opportunity," he said. "I was offered the position, and
my family and I felt it was the best thing to do. I will certainly miss the kids at Socorro High School. ... I'm very
appreciative of the administration and the wonderful opportunity they gave me."

Ferrell coached three seasons with the Bulldogs, compiling a 10-20 overall (7-17 District 1-5A) record.

"We want to thank coach Ferrell for everything he's done for Socorro High School and the student-athletes, and we wish
the best of luck for him and his family," Socorro school district athletic director Paula Gonzalez said.

Ferrell's last day at Socorro was Feb 26th. Cedar Creek will open its doors this fall as a Class 4A school with freshmen
and sophomores. It becomes the third high school within the Bastrop school district, which is located about 30 miles
southeast of Austin.

Prior to Socorro, Ferrell was the football head coach at Kempner High School near Houston.
